POOL RENOVATION FAQ

Got questions about renovating your pool?
We’ve answered some of the most common questions we receive about pool renovations, repairs, finishes and upgrades.

Does my pool need a full renovation or just a repair?

.It depends on the condition of your pool. If the surface is generally sound and you have a small crack, damaged tile, leaking fitting or isolated damage, a targeted repair may be all you need. If you have widespread cracks, a deteriorating surface, loose or damaged tiles, water loss or multiple problem areas, a full renovation may be the better option. We'll assess your pool and explain your options before any work begins.

How much does a pool renovation cost?

The cost of a pool renovation depends on the size and condition of your pool, the existing surface, the repairs required and the finish you choose.

A renovation may involve resurfacing, pebblecrete, or glass bead finishes, new tiles, crack repairs, waterproofing, pool lights or equipment upgrades.

Because every pool is different, we assess your pool before providing a detailed quote. This allows us to identify what work is actually required and provide a clear price based on your specific project.

No two pools are the same, so we don’t use a one-size-fits-all price.

What pool renovation finishes are available?

We offer a range of finishes to suit different styles, colours and budgets. Depending on your pool, options can include pebblecrete, glass bead, and fully tiled finishes. Each finish has its own appearance and characteristics, so we'll help you choose an option that suits the look you're trying to achieve. We can also discuss new waterline tiles, feature tiles and other finishing details to give your pool a completely updated appearance.

What does a pool renovation involve?

Every renovation is different, but the process generally starts with an assessment of the existing pool to determine its condition and identify any repairs or preparation required. Depending on the project, the renovation may include removing or preparing the existing surface, repairing cracks or damaged areas, waterproofing, installing new tiles, upgrading pool lights, updating pool equipment, and applying the selected new finish. We'll explain what's required for your particular pool before work begins.

How long does a pool renovation take?

As a general guide, most pool renovations take around 4–6 weeks from start to completion. The exact timeframe can vary depending on the size and condition of the pool, the type of finish selected, and whether repairs, tiling, waterproofing or other upgrades are required. We'll provide you with an expected timeframe when we quote your project.

Can you repair cracks before renovating my pool?

Yes. Cracks should be assessed and appropriately repaired before a new pool finish is applied. The correct repair method depends on the type, location and condition of the crack. This is particularly important because simply covering a crack without addressing the underlying issue can result in problems with the new finish.

Can you replace my pool tiles?

Yes. We can replace waterline tiles, feature tiles or complete pool tiling, depending on the renovation. If existing tiles are cracked, loose, damaged or simply outdated, replacing them can make a significant difference to the appearance of the pool. We can discuss different tile styles and options to complement your chosen pool finish.

Do I need to replace my pool equipment during a renovation?

Not necessarily. If your existing equipment is working properly and is in good condition, it may not need to be replaced. However, a renovation is a good opportunity to assess equipment such as pumps, filters, chlorinators and heating systems, particularly if they are older, inefficient or no longer performing properly. We'll discuss any recommended upgrades with you rather than replacing equipment unnecessarily.

Can you upgrade my pool lights during a renovation?

Yes. Pool lighting can be upgraded as part of your renovation. Modern LED pool lights can improve the appearance of your pool at night while providing more efficient and contemporary lighting. We can discuss your existing lighting and the available upgrade options as part of the renovation process.
